"Fantastic" £190k-p/w Man United Ace Could Stay This Summer

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire could now remain at Old Trafford this summer, if the club do not receive a suitable offer, with the player himself keen to stay, according to a recent report from Football Insider.

Is Harry Maguire leaving Manchester United?

Transfer insider Dean Jones has recently told GiveMeSport that Maguire will be leaving Man United this summer, despite the fact he has featured in some of the club's friendlies, saying:

"Harry Maguire is starting pre-season games and we are only a couple of weeks from the start of the season so as it stands, he genuinely is in the squad make-up for the start of the season. Will that remain the case? I doubt it.

"They are fielding enquiries and even if Maguire is still a United player at the start of the campaign, he won’t be there by the beginning of September."

However, journalist Alex Crook has received conflicting information, and he has recently suggested that Erik ten Hag is "content" for the defender to stay, having informed the player about his stance.

The manager believes the Englishman "has still got a job to do" at Old Trafford, meaning he could now be poised to remain with the Red Devils.

According to a report from Football Insider, the 30-year-old is believed to be keen to stay at Man United beyond this summer, and he is ready to fight for a place in the starting XI, which could make a deal difficult for any interested club.

West Ham United have already had a £20m bid rejected for the England international, with United unwilling to force him out of the club this summer, although they are willing to part ways with him for a suitable fee.

Ten Hag is keen to bolster his options in midfield, and the sale of the former Leicester City man, as well as Scott McTominay, would help facilitate new additions, but he is not putting the duo under any pressure to leave at the moment.

How much does Harry Maguire earn per week?

The centre-back is currently on a £190k-per-week deal, which means he is among the top ten earners at Old Trafford, and his sale would free up a significant amount of money on the wage bill.

It is clear to see why Ten Hag would be willing to keep hold of his former captain, given that he was hailed as "fantastic" by David de Gea back in February. However, he should definitely get rid of him if a suitable fee comes in.

The Sheffield-born defender made just 16 appearances in the Premier League last season, having fallen down the pecking order considerably, and when he was given the opportunity to play, he often failed to impress.

Quite rightly, United fans bemoaned the part the 6 foot 4 defender played in their Europa League exit at the hands of Sevilla, making an error leading to a goal in the second leg, in a match where he received a Sofascore rating of just 6.3.

Given that Maguire is an experienced England international, West Ham's offer of £20m is far too low, but Man United should let him leave for the right price this summer.

Southampton: Martin Eyeing "Warrior" £15m Bella-Kotchap Replacement

An update has emerged on Southampton and Russell Martin's plans to bolster their defensive options before the end of the summer transfer window…

What's the latest Southampton transfer news?

According to The Telegraph's John Percy, the Saints are one of a number of teams eyeing up Manchester City central defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis for a loan move before next month's deadline.

The reporter has claimed that fellow Championship sides Leeds United and Leicester City are also keen on signing the England U21 international to improve their promotion bids this season.

Percy has also added that the Premier League and Champions League champions are prepared to sell him on a permanent basis for the right price, which comes after it had previously been reported that they would be willing to cash in for around £15m.

How good is Taylor Harwood-Bellis?

The 21-year-old titan is an exceptional Championship defender who could come in as a dream heir to Armel Bella-Kotchap, who has been touted with a move away from St. Mary's this summer and reportedly has a £21m release clause.

If a team is willing to activate the option to sign the Germany international then the Saints could sign Harwood-Bellis as his replacement whilst making a £6m profit or take in all of the cash and bring him in on loan, which would be a fantastic piece of business.

The City prospect spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan with Burnley and caught the eye with his consistently brilliant displays at the back. He averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.21 across 32 league appearances, which was the seventh-best score within the entire division.

Harwood-Bellis, who won 63% of his duels, was the highest-rated defender in the Championship and this illustrates how impressive he was throughout the season for the Clarets on their way to the title.

The talented Englishman also enjoyed an extremely impressive U21 European Championship with his country this summer.

Former Burnley loanee Taylor Harwood-Bellis.

He played in five of their six matches on the way to winning the tournament as England did not concede a single goal and the 6 foot 2 brute averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.26, which was the seventh-best score within the squad.

Bella-Kotchap, meanwhile, averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.92 across 24 Premier League matches for the Saints and won 69% of his duels, which shows that both players are dominant battlers who can win the majority of their physical contests.

The current Southampton centre-back and the ex-Burnley tank also both made 1.8 interceptions per game for their respective teams, which only Jan Bednarek (2.5) bettered for the south coast club.

These statistics suggest that Harwood-Bellis has the quality to be an outstanding enforcer for Martin given his impressive performances in relation to Bella-Kotchap's for the Saints and the rest of the Championship's defenders last term.

Therefore, the City youngster, who ex-boss Tony Mowbray claimed has a "warrior attitude", could be a phenomenal signing for Southampton and provide their defence with a lift after five goals conceded within the opening two league games.

He would come in as a ready-made Championship performer who can hit the ground running and be a mainstay at the back to replace Bella-Kotchap, should he depart from St. Mary's before the end of the window.

Deepti Sharma to turn out for Bengal

India allrounder Deepti Sharma has been signed up by Bengal for the upcoming senior women’s domestic season. The prospect of being under the guidance of a senior player from the national side – in this case Jhulan Goswami, who captains Bengal – outweighed other parameters, Deepti said.”I’m happy I’ll be spending this domestic season Jhulu ,” she told ESPNcricinfo. “My job is to work hard and grow as a player, so whichever side offers me the opportunity to do so, I’m willing to work with them. In this case, Jhulu presence was a big factor – bigger than anything else.”Deepti was also in talks with Baroda and Railways since being granted a no-objection certificate by the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association.Bengal will be part of the Plate division for the one-dayers this season. They are grouped among 10 teams in the Elite division for the T20 competition. Deepti is scheduled to leave for Kolkata along with Jhulan on November 19 for a state camp ahead of the season opener on December 6.

Leeds Must Fix Blatant Cardiff Issue With "Electric" £9m-rated Gem

Leeds United have had their first taste of Championship football in over three years, and despite dominating, one glaring issue stands out that they must fix before the summer window slams shut…

Is Emmanuel Dennis leaving Nottingham Forest?

Despite starting brightly in what was Daniel Farke's first official game in charge of his new club, Cardiff City proved that they were not around to simply be pushed to the wayside by such a giant of English football. They grew into the clash, and found themselves 2-0 up at the break.

A battling second half culminated in Crysencio Summerville's late equaliser, but in the end the points were frustratingly shared as it finished 2-2.

For all their domination of the ball and chance creation, the absence of a true striker was glaring, as Wilfried Gnonto offered all he could, but seriously lacked the physicality required.

Fortunately, reports have persisted linking them with a swoop for Emmanuel Dennis, as they seek to salvage the out-of-favour Nottingham Forest man and make him the focal point he deserves to be. Football Transfers value the Nigerian marksman at just €10.7m (£9m).

How good is Emmanuel Dennis?

To add someone so lethal to a squad who was so clearly the dominant force in yesterday's clash would be imperative in ensuring they are not regularly dropping points against sides they should be defeating, as they seek an instant promotion.

After all, they did enjoy 72% of the possession, taking 25 shots and forging three big chances, via Sofascore.

They pushed and pushed, but the front four of Gnonto, Summerville, Luis Sinisterra and Daniel James were certainly profligate, given all would typically brand themselves as an out-and-out winger.

To replace one of these with Dennis, who is far more experienced in leading the line, they would retain that same fluidity that saw them consistently trouble the Bluebirds, but add a proficiency that was clearly missing as Farke fought for his first point in charge.

Even though last campaign marked a tumultuous one for the 25-year-old, his exploits with Watford during the 2021/22 season remain impressive, and worthy of interest in gaining his services.

leeds-united-celebration

After all, he would notch ten goals and assist a further six in the Premier League that year, for a Hornets side that fell to the drop with ease. It is also worth noting that he did so whilst maintaining a 17% goal conversion rate in the league, a figure which only Sinisterra (18%) of the aforementioned wide men could emulate in their respective seasons (9%, 14%, 12%).

Such imperious form that year led to widespread praise, led by journalist Josh Bunting: "Emmanuel Dennis has been one of the most underrated players outside of Watford fans this season , he’s been a very good addition. 4 goals and 5 assists in 11 Premier League games should be being spoken about much more. Today he was absolutely electric from the start to finish."

Farke has spoken of the injury crisis that has impacted the number nine position, remaining coy on potential transfer targets: "I have to be creative to find a solution. We've trained with 16 players today which isn't perfect if you want to be ambitious. We all knew we'd need to strengthen in more or less all areas. We have many, many wishes but we also have to stay financially disciplined."

Perhaps this clash with Cardiff, and the subsequent dropped points, could spur him and his new hierarchy to finally act in the market and add Dennis as another striking option to solve their glaring issue.

Ryan Reynolds Stunned By 5-5 Wrexham Comeback

League Two club Wrexham have managed to pick up a point in a 5-5 draw with Swindon Town thanks to two last-gasp goals.

What happened in Wrexham 5-5 Swindon?

The Welsh outfit, owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, never seem too far from the sort of drama that would often be found in a Hollywood script.

But that's just football for you, and the beautiful game has delivered yet another exciting moment for fans of the Red Dragons to enjoy this weekend at the Racecourse Ground.

Indeed, now playing in League Two having secured promotion back into the EFL last season, Wrexham had just one win in their first three games and would have been hoping for all three points on Saturday afternoon.

However, late on in the game, they were 5-3 down – with Jake Young (twice), Charlie Austin and Dan Kemp (twice) having scored for Swindon, and Jake Bickerstaff, Elliot Lee, and James Jones for Wrexham – and so most would have accepted defeat was on the cards.

Not to buy into that sort of doom-and-gloom attitude, however, the home team found a glimmer of hope when Jones pulled one back in the 92nd minute.

Incredibly, Lee was then able to level the game when a freekick taken from the edge of the box was parried out to him, resulting in a bit of a goalmouth scramble.

The 28-year-old midfielder made no mistake as he prodded the ball in, meaning Wrexham were able to recover and secure a point in what ended up being a 10-goal thriller against the Robins.

Popular podcaster Dan Cook from the HLTCO podcast summed up the chaos that has been surrounding the club since their promotion up into League Two, tweeting: "Wrexham were 5-3 down on 90 minutes at home to Swindon today, they came back to draw 5-5 with goals on 92 and 96.

"After just 4 games in League Two, they’ve scored 13 and conceded 13. Box Office viewing."

You can see the moment the last equaliser was scored in the footage below, with fans in the stadium going wild – much like the commentators as well.

Are Wrexham English or Welsh?

Although Wrexham play in the English Football League, they are indeed Welsh, with the county borough located in northeastern Wales along the English border.

The arrival of Reynolds and McElhenney – and the Welcome to Wrexham documentary has helped the club grow earn global power and triple in value along the way.

Their reputation is so big now, that before the current campaign even started, they were backed by a supercomputer to pull off back-to-back promotions, and were tipped to win League Two outright.

Well, it's still early days, but Wrexham haven't had the smoothest of starts to life in the EFL. Indeed, after this stunning 5-5 draw, they now have one win, one defeat, and two draws from their opening four matches.

Regardless, Reynolds was evidently impressed, as he took to Twitter to say: "So much heart. #NeverLeaveAWrexhamMatchEarly"

Manager Phil Parkinson, however, was less impressed after the 5-5 draw, telling the press: "The lads were never ever giving in. If you put on a Wrexham shirt that's a requirement. But equally, we've got to be honest with ourselves. We need to do better."

A partida

O lance acordou o time do Vitória.

O árbitro viu e marcou a penalidade.

Ailing Bangladesh seek respite in T20s

With Faf du Plessis, Wayne Parnell and Morne Morkel injured, and Imran Tahir and Kagiso Rabada rested, South Africa are set to experiment further

The Preview by Firdose Moonda25-Oct-2017Big pictureBangladesh’s tour of South Africa is coming full circle with the two T20s being played at the same venues as the two Tests that started their visit a month ago. Rather than returning to the scenes of pleasant memories of progression, Bangladesh are going back to places they may be wishing they had never gone to.They arrived in South Africa with high hopes of proving they had become a team that can compete away from home, if not as well as they do at home, then at least adequately. They succumbed to extra pace and the short ball, even though pitches were far more placid than they usually are. Had Bangladesh simply played what was in front of them, rather than what they had in their heads, they may have had more to show for their efforts so far.The shortest format may present the best opportunity for them to simply play, with no preconceived ideas of what to expect from conditions or opposition especially as South Africa’s attack has grown more depleted as the series has gone on. Morne Morkel was injured in the first Test, Wayne Parnell ahead of the ODIs and Kagiso Rabada and Imran Tahir have been rested for the T20s.As a result, South Africa have been able to use this series to experiment and for new coach Ottis Gibson to see several players at the highest level. He will now get the chance to have a look at a few more. Left-arm seamer Beuran Hendrucks, spinners Aaron Phangiso and Tabraiz Shamsi and allrounder Robbie Frylinck come into the mix. Though it is difficult for South Africa to accurately judge their strength on the basis of this series, at least the depth does not appear to be as lacking as it seemed.Form guideSouth Africa: LWLWLBangladesh: : WLLLLIn the spotlightSince his Test retirement, JP Duminy has been given greater responsibility in the shorter formats. He led a CSA Invitation side against Bangladesh in a fifty-over match earlier in the tour and will now take charge of the team for the two T20s in the absence of Faf du Plessis. Duminy did not have much opportunity in the middle in the ODIs but with du Plessis injured, he may bat a little higher and could cash in over the next two matches. After opting out of the Tests and making a small impact in the ODIs with one half-century Shakib Al Hasan will become Bangladesh’s third captain of the tour as he takes the reins for the T20s. While Bangladesh will need more than just a solid performance from him to turn their fortunes around, something substantial from Shakib, be it runs, wickets or a stern team talk, won’t go amiss in a change room that is desperate for positivity.Team newsIn the absence of du Plessis, South Africa will have a slightly shortened batting line-up, more so if David Miller is unfit for selection. That may have its merits, because it could allow Andile Phehlukwayo to display his much-vaunted finishing skills. Robbie Frylinck could make his debut and lead an inexperienced pack.South Africa (probable): 1 Quinton de Kock (wk), 2 Hashim Amla, 3 AB de Villiers, 4 JP Duminy (capt), 6 David Miller/Mangaliso Mosehle, 7 Andile Phehlukwayo, 8 Robbie Frylinck, 9 Dane Paterson, 10 Beuran Hendricks, 11 Aaron Phangiso/Tabraiz ShamsiBangladesh will have three changes in their line-up from their last T20, in April. Mashrafe Mortaza has retired from the format while Mosaddek Hossain (eye infection) and Mustafizur Rahman (ankle) are out with injuries. From the current squad, either Liton Das or Nasir Hossain will bat at No. 7 while Shafiul Islam is likely to be picked ahead of Taskin Ahmed.Bangladesh (probable): 1 Imrul Kayes, 2 Soumya Sarkar, 3 Sabbir Rahman, 4 Shakib Al Hasan (capt), 5 Mushfiqur Rahim(wk), 6 Mahmudullah 7 Liton Das/Nasir Hossain, 8 Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 9 Mohammad Saifuddin, 10 Shafiul Islam, 11 Rubel HossainPitch and conditionsIn keeping with the early-season trend, the surface is not expected to offer much for bowlers, though Bloemfontein has had some rain since the series first visited it earlier in the month. The ground’s new lights, which were switched on for the first time during the Test, will be in use for this match.Stats and triviaSouth Africa and Bangladesh have only played four T20s against each other. Bangladesh have lost them all. There has only been one T20 international in Bloemfontein before, between South Africa and Zimbabwe in 2010. The hosts had chased down a target of 169 with 4.1 overs to spare. Quotes”It could be a dangerous thing – in that they have nothing to lose. Or they could have one foot on the plane already and want to go home.”
“I think it is such a short format that we don’t have much time to think about things, which is to our advantage. In Tests and ODIs there’s a lot of time to think, which leads to a lot of complicated thinking. If everyone can keep things simple, we can leave with a good performance.”

Man United Transfer Update On Kylian Mbappe

Manchester United are still in the race for Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, with a recent report from Spain now revealing he could be set to turn down a move to one of Europe's top clubs…

Is Kylian Mbappe leaving PSG this summer?

After scoring against Toulouse on Saturday, Mbappe said "I am staying here", putting an end to the speculation about him leaving PSG this summer, however he does not want to remain at the Parc des Princes beyond this season.

The French club do not want to lose their star player on a free transfer next summer, with just one year remaining on his contract, but he has so far been unwilling to commit to an extension, potentially opening up the door for a move elsewhere.

Since the beginning of the summer transfer window, the France international has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, with PSG of the belief he has already agreed to sign for the Spanish club in 2024, but there may be another option on the table.

According to reports from Spain (via TEAMtalk), the 24-year-old could move to Old Trafford in the January transfer window, after continuing with PSG in the meantime, with the player and his mother seriously weighing up his future in France.

The former AS Monaco man is well aware he can continue to make a lot of money if he stays with the French club, but he could also pack his bags to join Man United, and become the club's new "franchise star" as they try to dethrone Manchester City.

Those are the two options on the table for the forward at the moment, as he feels let down by Real Madrid not coming forward with a strong enough proposal to sign him, despite president Florentino Perez's long-term goal of taking him to the Bernabeu.

How many goals has Kylian Mbappe scored?

Despite still being relatively young, the Paris-born striker has already racked up an incredible number of goals for both club and country, netting a total of 240 goals across 321 games for PSG and AS Monaco.

The former AS Monaco man has also been prolific for his national side, netting 40 goals in 70 appearances for France, leading them to their triumph in the 2018 World Cup, while also playing a big part in them reaching the 2022 final.

Lauded as "world-class" by former teammate Neymar, the France captain would evidently be a good signing for any top European club, but they will need to be willing to fork out an astronomical amount on wages.

Mbappe is currently tied down to a £1.2m-per-week contract at the Parc des Princes, which is nearly quadruple the amount of any player in the Man United squad, so it does not seem likely he will be on his way to Old Trafford in January.

Having been reintegrated into the first team, the France star is seemingly happy to stay at PSG for the time being, before completing his dream move to Real Madrid next summer.

West Brom Eyeing Up Swoop To Land £10k-p/w Colossus

An update has emerged on West Bromwich Albion and their plans to strengthen the playing squad before the end of the summer transfer window.

What's the latest West Brom transfer news?

According to Football Insider, the Baggies are one of three clubs eyeing up a swoop to sign Millwall central defender Jake Cooper before next month's deadline.

The report claims that Carlos Corberan's side are joined by Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers and fellow Championship outfit Leeds United in holding an interest in the 6 foot 6 titan.

It states that the English centre-back is now within the final year of his contract at the Den and that the Gers have already made contact over a possible deal to secure his services.

How good is Jake Cooper?

The 28-year-old colossus is a proven Championship performer who could come in as an upgrade on Semi Ajayi for Corberan if they are able to beat off interest from the Whites and Rangers in order to secure his signature.

Their respective performances over the past two full league seasons suggest that Cooper would provide the Spanish head coach with a better option at the heart of the defence.

The Lions star averaged a Sofascore rating of 6.94 and won 60% of his duels last term, which came after he averaged a rating of 7.13 and won 64% of his battles across 42 outings during the 2021/22 campaign.

Ajayi, meanwhile, failed to average a Sofascore rating higher than 6.84 or enjoy a duel success rate of higher than 63% over the last two Championship seasons.

These statistics suggest that the Millwall titan, whose 7.13 rating would have placed him top of the Baggies squad for defenders, would perform at a higher level on a consistent basis.

Millwall defender Jake Cooper.

He could cut out opposition attacks more frequently than Ajayi as the former Reading colossus made 2.7 tackles and interceptions per game, which was more than any current Baggies centre-back managed, in comparison to the Nigeria international's 2.1.

Cooper would also provide West Brom with more quality in the air. He ranked among the top 5% of his positional peers for aerial duels won per 90 (5.07) across the Championship last season, whereas Ajayi ranked in the 51st percentile with 3.14 won per 90.

This suggests that the English ace could improve the team's defending from set-pieces and crosses into the box, whilst also being able to carry an attacking threat as he was directly involved in six goals last term – four more than the current Baggies enforcer.

West Brom scored the third-most goals (18) from set-pieces in the division last season and the signing of the £10k-per-week giant could push them closer to topping the charts due to his ability to make things happen with his aerial prowess.

The left-footed stopper, who was once lauded as "invaluable" by his current manager Gary Rowett, would also come in as a player who can hit the ground running as he knows the Championship and it takes to deliver consistently impressive performances at this level.

He has racked up a staggering 304 second-tier appearances in his career to date and his aforementioned statistics prove that the Millwall battler has quality as well as experience.
